Community Water Efficiency Program

We recognise the integral role of community organisations who provide valuable  support to members of the community who are experiencing vulnerability and are a fundamental part of the social fabric that keeps our community strong and resilient.

This program is designed to support community and not-for-profit organisations undertake projects to maximise the water efficiency of their facilities and raise awareness about their water use and strategies for conserving it.

Example projects from our 2020 program include:
• Upgrading old or inefficient appliances, fixtures and fittings e.g. single flush toilets to dual flush, leaking taps or showerheads
• Installation of water tanks for community farms or gardens
• Improving fixtures and fittings to support use of water by staff, volunteers and the community
• Supporting new office or office moves with fit-outs for water efficient appliances, fixtures and fittings

Who can apply

Not-for-profit and community organisations are eligible to apply.

Organisations that have received funding through one of our other partnership programs or our 2020 grant program e.g. Community Housing Retrofit Program are advised they may be ruled ineligible as being a previous funding recipient. If you are unsure, please contact us prior to sending your application.

Unfortunately, Yarra Valley Water cannot fund retrospectively for work already completed.

Selection Criteria Applications will be judged on the following criteria:	Process
• Impact on water conservation	• We will identify an initial shortlist of projects based on the applications
• How the application supports our community, access to services or water education	• We will arrange an onsite meeting with our approved plumber and the applicant organisation to provide an accurate quote for the proposed works
• Work can be completed without additional or dependant work and within the timeline	• We will confirm the approved scope of works to be covered by the grant with the applicant organisation
• Potential cost of works	• Applicant accepts or rejects the Yarra Valley Water offer
	• Our approved plumber will carry out the approved works

Undertaking of work

All work will be completed by our plumbing contractor, New Plumbing Solutions. Work will be guaranteed and where applicable come with a building compliance form from the Victorian Building Authority.
