Love branch sewer project
The new sewer pipeline will run alongside the Hume Freeway, from opposite the Aurora housing estate to Craigieburn Road East in Wollert.
The improvements to the sewerage system will make sure it’s reliable into the future as the area is developed and more people move in.
We started work in March 2024. Excavation and construction works are expected to take around 12 months to complete, subject to ground conditions and weather.
This work is being completed by our project partner, MFJ Constructions.
What we'll be doing
- Constructing a new 2km sewer pipeline along the Hume Freeway, from opposite the Aurora housing development to Craigieburn Road East in Wollert.
- Excavating deep underground shafts where we’ll install the sewer pipes.
- Installing maintenance holes along the pipeline near the Hume Freeway.
Some sections of the new sewer main will be open cut and others will be drilled, equiring rock breaking. This is noisy and dusty.
For safety, we've constructed a new temporary shared path for cyclists and pedestrians around our construction area. Please take care as you transition from the permanent path to this temporary section.
What to expect during the works
- Normal working hours will be 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 7 am to 3 pm on Saturdays.
- Your water and/or sewerage services will not be affected.
- For safety, a temporary shared path will be constructed around our work area.
- Some trees and vegetation will need to be removed as part of these works.
- There’ll be extra vehicles and machinery in the area, and our works will be noisy.
