Craigieburn Road East water supply project
We’re improving the reliability of our drinking water and recycled water supply to customers in Wollert by constructing two new pipelines along Craigieburn Road East and Lehmanns Road, from Highpark Drive to Bambra Way.
Our Project Partner, MFJ Constructions started work in July 2024 and expect to take 18 months to 2 years to construct these pipelines, depending on ground conditions and weather.
What’s involved
We’re constructing both the drinking water and recycled pipelines concurrently.
Our work is being completed in 3 stages:
- Stage 1: Along Craigieburn Road East, from Highpark Drive to the Wollert Secondary College’s eastern property boundary. The pipes are being installed in an open cut trench on the southern side of the road.
- Stage 2: Along Lehmanns Road, from Bambra Way to the service road exit, near Findons Creek. These pipes will be installed in an open cut trench on the southern side of Lehmanns Road and Council’s service road - not within the treed road reserve.
- Stage 3: Along Craigieburn Road East from the secondary college to the service road exit on Lehmanns Road. Where we cross the Epping Road and Craigieburn Road East intersection, the pipes will be micro-tunnelled.
We’ve scheduled our work to ensure we’re not working at Findons Creek from 1 November to 31 March, during the breeding season for the endangered Growling Grass Frog.
The map shows where we’ll be working during all 3 stages.
What to expect
- Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 5.30 pm. If required, some low impact works on Saturday, 7 am to 1.30 pm.
- There will be construction noise and some vibration while we’re excavating the open cut trench and installing the pipes.
- More than 20 trees, on the eastern side of Epping Road, will be removed and replaced by Whittlesea City Council.
- We’re offering free pre-condition surveys and reports to residents who access their homes via the service lane off Lehmanns Road. These surveys photograph inside and outside your home before we start construction - and provide a record should you think our work causes damage to your property. Please contact the MFJ Project Manager to schedule a survey to be completed at your home.
- There will be traffic detours. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
- There may be additional vehicles parked in residential streets and at our work sites.
- There’s no change to any existing bus stops for PTV’s service # 390 - Mernda to Craigieburn railway stations.
- We don’t expect any interruption to your water and sewerage services while we complete this work.
We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your support as we construct these pipelines.
